Thumbs up Help me pick a short block.

First things first, 1989 22re 4x4 5 speed

I just did my timing chain and head gasket and the block is in rough shape. Two of the "winged" bolt holes for the timing chain cover are broken off the block. The rings are getting pretty bad, so compression isn't the greatest. When I pulled the oil pan, pieces of a piston skirt were in it.

Anyway, I bought the rv head with 261 cam off of engnbldr, and was going to put it on until I saw the condition of the block. I just put the old head back on.

Which short block should I buy? One from a big company or a smaller shop. I was thinking maybe a LCE or talk to engnbldr and see if he would be up for it.

I am going to buy it when I make my move back east once I get out of the military. After I get the new motor assembled, its game on for the old one. I will attempt to get a video of when I "take care" of the old motor.

THANKS!!!
