Help me identify this part
There are many good reasons a job should not take 2 years to complete from teardown to rebuild. However, that is what I did. Consequently, despite my placing every part in a dedicated location, I find myself wondering "what is this thing anyway?" I am at that point with a hose. It's a "U" shaped hose and it doesn't smell like antifreeze, but none of my hoses do. There is a slight whitish residue inside it, and I'm certain it is a coolant hose. I just can't find where it connects. I suspect if I start the engine and coolant comes gushing out from some inaccessible place, I'll suddenly know exactly where it goes, but I would like to avoid that scenario.
Here's the picture. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If 22RE there is a vacuum line below the idle adjustment screw on the intake. Follow the vacuum line down to the other end. From where the vacuum line connects at the bottom look in the 2 o'clock position and you will see a coolant fitting. In your pic above the left side attaches there. The right side in your pic (shorter side) attaches to another coolant fitting furher to the right and back a little...sorry no camera. Kind of a pain in the ass to install.
Detach the part where the intake line attaches at the bottom and move it to the side to get some room.
Good luck.

Could it be the return line from the fuel pressure regulator? http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...89fuelpres.pdf It's bent a little too much, but it looks like the right size. (And maybe you switched it with the bypass loop on the rear coolant manifold.)

Its the coolant hose for the oil cooler on a 4wd. The cooler mounts to the block on the drivers side rear. the hose connects to a fitting about in the middle of the block on the drivers side.
