HELP!! Engine and Transmision
I got a 1988 Toyota Pickup. We put the engine in with the tranny that came with the pickup. now the engine is about 4 inches farther up than it should be, so the fan on the engine hits the radiator.

Help!!
Yes, I'm almost sure, that combo looks like da one I pulled from my son's "83". but on his truck, we used the same old engine, and a 87 tranny/transfer, we had to relocate the cross member and re do the drive shafts, 4" give n take. Luis.

help.
Hey Shasta. You know what? i think you need some info. about your truck, before do anything, that space between the firewall/engine is to much, maybe your truck was originally V-6, so save yourself future headaches by doing some investigation first. because you can put your tranny on, and move the cross member fwd. re-do the shafts, but what about the radiator? and, if your engine or tranny are not that good? then what? +$+$+$?

In the first pic of the second post...is it just me or does it look like the motor mount has been cut away from the frame in the middle of the upper control arm?

its actualy a 22r and im just going to put in a 1985 trannsmision. i cut off the mounts because the guy that owned it before me welded mounts that didnt fit the 22r. i think he gave me everything for a 22re.

Yeah Mt Goat, I remembered 4 cyl mounts being further forward, but it looks like this WAS a v6 truck. There's metal that wasn't ground off when the mounts were removed from further back.
At least that's what it looks like to me. I could be crazy?!

Yea, Jonnyboy is right, those motor mounths r not on the original place. the p/o tried to adapt this old combo the wrong way, setted the transsmition on the cross member firts, and since the old tranny were like 4" longer, he moved the motor mounths frw. now masta boy has to cut the m/mounts, n welded them on their original place, n with the 85's tranny everything will fit Home. !Good luck!.
