Help with crank and rods
I have searched forever and have been fruitless. I am building from the ground up. What are the steps for installing new crank and pistons? I have the rods and pistons assembled. That was simple enough. What is my next step. Any info or link to get me in the right direction is much appreciated. Thanks guys.

Well it is your Engine and $$$$
It would not be fun to torque the main bearings only to find you can`t turn the crank. Been there done that on a $10,000 Big Block Chevy!!
If you had been building engines 10 or 20 years buying from the same supplier that might be different.
You do have a ring compressor ??
You know to off set all the ring groves .
Now it is possible to get the wrong parts in the correct box.
Happens all the time with clutch kits.

"Plastigauge" (or its equivalent). The spec is (0.0009 – 0.0021 in.); do you think you can measure that with a micrometer that reads to .001?

Everyone needs to start somewhere, but assembling an engine from the ground up is not for the faint-of-heart. Particularly for someone who hasn't heard of checking journal clearances, and has never seen the manual. At a minimum, I would head down to my book store (or at least Amazon) and pick up a good book on engine building.
Good luck!
