Help!! Can't figure out parts...

Hey guys, we are just wrapping up on a head gasket, water pump, oil pump, timing chain and cover, and header install on a 87 Runner 22RE 5 speed. I have came down to only two things we could not figure out.
  • First, there is a spring on a stub coming off the intake manifold. The spring was just sitting on there when I bought it and that is where it is now. The pipe is not threaded, nor does it have a flange on it. It looks like some kind of cap goes there. If it helps any, one of the hoses coming off of it goes to the power steering pump..
  • Next, there are a couple of plugs hanging below the intake manifold. I do not remember them plug when I took it apart and do not see where they could go. One looks like two plugs joined together and the other is a single, both are wire tied together.

I am sorry, but I did not have a camera handy, so I got no pictures. I definitely need some help before I fire it up tomorrow. If someone could post a picture of the top between the intake and valve cover, that would be great..

Thanks in advance,
Josh

There are several plugs around the intake manifold.. Look for the knock sensor.. Otherwise take photos.

No springs that I know about on the manifold at all.

the spring piece and the plugs are for AC. Sounds like the PO removed the AC system from the truck.

The plugs were coming off the main taped up wires coming out under the intake. Like I said from what I remember one was like two round plus stuck together. I thought we hooked the AC wires back up, I knew it worked before we pulled it apart. If I cannot figure it out on the board I will try to get some pictures tomorrow. It has been parked for a week, only a few days after I bought it and it sucks, I am ready to get it back on the road. thanks guys

I think everything should be ok. We searched and searched but there was no where for the plugs to go. The only thing that is bothering me is the spring. It is just sitting on there, no cap, no plug, no bolt, the spring will just slide off. I was hoping I could find a picture where I could see what connects there....

Thanks

Hey guys, does anyone have a picture of under the hood. I am still trying to figure out what the valve with the spring is. The only thing I could tell today was that it has a suction. Also, when I was driving it around, I stopped and shifted it into 4wd, although it engaged, the light did not come on.... Please advise.....

Thanks

Ok I found a picture online. I am trying to figure out what goes on the end of the valve after the spring. My spring is just sitting on there, is it a valve or a plug. It is directly to the right of the "E" and "F" on the intake towards the driver side. Someone please go outside and take a look, my idle is funky.

the thing with the spring is for idle up adjustment when the AC is turned on.

Good deal, I knew since it had hard suction, it had to be something important. Any suggestions as where to get this? By the way I think I just found the plugs...
