Help, 91 4runner won't start.
V6, 5speed brought me home last night as usual. This morning, no start. Turns over, but no fire. Pulled a plug wire and don't see any spark. This is my daily driver, really have to get it running. Where do I start? I havn't used the search function yet, I've been side tracked with another million or two projects today, forgive me. Thanks in advance.

I picked up a manual, and started some diagnostic testing. The secondary circut resistance check of the coil gave me a reading of 18.5 ohms....the manual says the correct range is 10.2-13.8k ohms. So I guess I'll replace the coil tomorrow.

first question:
did you do your spark plug test right? Did you touch the metal of the spark plug (the bolt part) to the engine block when you were turning over?
second question:
is your starter relay grounded?

starter relay is in the fuse panel under the hood. the cover will tell you which relay is for the starter, you can swap it with the efi relay and see what happens

Thanks for all the replies. I will check out the relay. My igniter assembly seems to be solid and secure. Really clean under the hood, but I suppose that it could still be an issue

Well, I found my starter relay, its near the driver's side kick panel. My efi relay is under the hood and the relay is round, while the starter relay is square. Will they still interchange? Also, I'll be darned if I can get the starter relay off, my fat fingers can't get to the clips. So, did the repair manual steer me wrong? My diagnosis per their instuctions show a faulty coil. Are they leaving out some other diagnostics that could affect the reading on the coil?

She's up and running! Installed the new coil, confidently crawled in to the cab, hit the switch.........and ..........nothing. So what gives? I tested the coil at least half a dozen times. Same reading each time, 18.5k. O.K. so now I go to test the pickups, pop the cap and the rotor is toast, I mean really gone and the cap doesn't look so hot either. So I picked up one of each, wanted to go OEM but the dealership is 60 mi.away and I have to get it running, so settled for Borg Warner. Pulled the pick-up coil connector, and kinda got some readings, couldn't get the female end off the wire protector cover to save my soul and didn't want to break it, so I tried top do it where it sat...not fun. Got brief readings, seemed o.k., so I put it back together, and bingo, fired right up! Got rid of the occasional low rpm stumble too. So, I know the the coil taking a hit and the rotor/cap going bad at the exact same time is highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened. Suppose the fuel mileage will go up a little too. I'm anxious to see by how much, as I was getting 19-21 on the hiway/13-16/town before. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I need to know what to do , the toyota wont start. There is power up to the coil but nothing after that , There is nothing to the distributor cap. It wants to start . It was running and then nothing, It just died
