Whats your timing at?...check to make sure your dizzy is advancing properly.

Did it do this before you changed the plugs & distributor? As Eric mentioned, sounds like a timing problem...

No it did not do this before I changed the plugs, however It did not start doing it immediately after either

Have you pulled the plugs to see what they look like? What plugs and leads are they?

Sounds to me like a vacuum leak or problem with the intake duct.

Timing and vacuum both are great places to start.How's your idle alot of times the computer will raise the idle to keep the engine running if there's a vacuum leak.

22re's ECU's don't have the capability to adjust idle speeds.

I would check plugs and timing first. My 87' 4runner 22re has an issue, I started it last week ran for a minute then quit. Not getting fuel, checked relay (good) so replace fuel pump. still no power to it??????? What would cause this? When I started it last week it was being jumped!Thanks |
