help with a 1989 2wd pick up
hey guys i have a 1989 2wd Pick up with a 22r engine in it. i have been havin trouble finding wheels with the right lug pattern im lookin to get some good wheels and knobby tires is anyone has a preference to any?

I've been on the fire roads around Gorman, CA and nothing up there needs knobby's. Basic AT tires are fine most everywhere around there.
Since you probably are familiar with the area, see the towers on the north east side of the interchange between the 138 and I5? I've been up there with a 1 ton Ford and OTR L/T tires (read as in "no tread blocks"). Took the same truck up SR166 into Los Padres on the same tires, all the way to the 101 above Santa Barbara.
Unless it's raining, most of it is granite road with maybe some ruts.

Well, Basic BFG M/T's are a good all around tread design (tried to get my boss to buy them but they wouldn't spend the extra 10 bucks for them)... work great on dry, sandy stuff and conform pretty well to rocky stuff as well and work fairly well on wet clay as long as they can get to drier ground (though they are prone to slipping when the tread clogs), but a lot of the roads around there are decomposed granite with shards so most any tire will get torn up.
Maybe you should state exactly what type of terrain you anticipate driving, and keep in mind you might need 2 or 3 different tires to accomplish it.

well when i do take it off road which wont be too often cept when we go campin or ridin. il be in cal city or in gorman. I'm also a poor college student so money is also an issue

I hear you perfectly well there. Basically you'll be on the south side of tehachapi and tejon, right? lot's of trails around there but most are BLM / CDF fire trails and oil well / power line access.
Several are considered 4wd only but a 2wd with LSD / locker can climb without issue (that may be the first thing to do- LSD or lock the rear) if the ground is dry.
