Hella 500's

I just ordered some Hella 500's for $60 shipped on ebay i plan to bolt them to my stock front bumper like many of you have already done. is there anything i should know about installing them/wiring? or anything to watch out for? oh btw it was the kit in the box so it includes the wiring, switches, stone guards, and bulbs..

I would recommend wiring the lights so that they turn on when your brights are on, but use the switch. To do this, follow the instructions of finding the "brights" wire, but instead of attaching the relay to that wire (which would make your Hellas turn on every time your brights are) patch that wire to the switch first, and then the relay. That way, if your switch is off only your headlight brights will turn on, but if the switch is on, the Hellas will turn on with the brights.

I have found it a bit of a pain to mess with turning the Hellas off AND turning the brights off when a car comes over the hill in the oncoming lane, I think I tend to accidentally blind people

Also, go for the 130W bulbs! They make a huge difference. Some people on Ebay sell packs of six 130W H3 bulbs for like $20. Have fun driving around with your blind-o-rays!

Maybe someone has one, I don't sorry.

You might try a volt meter while turning the brights on/off to try and identify the right wire.

If you're looking for the high beam wire, it's the red/green one from the headlight.

Looks cool

Don't know how they do things down in ol Mississippi but I have been pulled over for using mine on the road and not having covers on them. They are not that powerfull but they said they are off road lights and could not be used on road and must be covered.

haha yeah it took me like 2 hours to install them but only like 30 minutes to actually run the wiring and hook it up...making the damn things aim straight and not move is a little challenge. i do have to hand it to hella, they have some heavyduty mounting hardware

thats dumb...as long as you only use them with your brights i dont see any reason why you shouldn't be able to use them..as far as down here, i could have 10 of these things mounted to my 4R and use them with my brights and nobody would say anything about it..as long as i dont start blinding people
