Well I got it ripped out and the priviouse owner raped and molested the hell out of the dash. Iam missing the tube that blows the air out of the passanger side and the driver side far end vents.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i got to this point after 8 hours.
marking and cleaning as i went.

that is the box the heater core actually sits inside.
had to buy some 1" weather stripping for it, as the oem one did.

be carefull on the copper pipes, they are soft. but can take a fair amount of tugging.

i bent the tips trying to get the engine bay hoses off.
ended up pulling the hoses w/the heater through the firewall, and removing them after it was completely out.

but, wow, when i turned the core upside down, the crud just bulged out.
and it could've been acid washed/cleaned, but after 20+ years, i figured a new one is much needed.

any ducting will work.
and i havent got the whole thing back together yet (blower stopped/ no power to the relay)
halfway installed.

Angry

So after going throgh 180 dollars a heater core and install, I have to take it back out agan. The rubber hose inbetween the firewall and the heater core is leaking. Iam going to freak out. This will be the second time I have removed the whole dash. I hate the heating and cooling systems on these pickups. The owner before me destroyed everything behind the dash> AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I did a writeup for heatercore replacement in my '94. I'm sure it can't be THAT different.

Click the link in my sig. It took me only a few hours.
