any tricks to getting the headbolts out on a 3.0. thanks

Sure....
These FSM instructions will walk you thought the process.

You'll also need a 12 point 12mm socket.

Yeah, the 12 point threw me for a loop too. At first I thought it was a specialty part. But I figured it out...

can i get the valves out without a specialty tool?

why would u want to do that? your better off having them done at a machine shop.

I just made a "specialty tool" to help me compress the springs while leaving me enough room to remove the valve keepers. I put the head on the deck of my shop press, put my home-made specialty tool on, used the press to compress the spring, popped the keepers out and took the pressure off the spring. Very easy to make... and very easy to use. You need a press to do it that way, though.

got it. thanks. i manage to rig something up to get the keepers off.
