I know i need new head bolts when my mechanic does the job?

it's only a head gasket. there is a time to save money, and a time to spend money on parts. spend the money, and get a toyota head gasket. i like napa parts, but oem on the head gasket. cheap insurance.

x6 on the Toyota HG. Search my ID and read my tale of woe....and spring for the new head bolts. You might even consider studs instead of bolts.

take TONS of pictures. label every disconnected hose/fitting and what it was connected to. replace ALL of the smaller coolant hoses that are at the top-rear part of the engine, many of them are a pain to get to if they leak later on. get the heads surfaced and pressure tested, get a valve job too.

most importantly, take your time.

it was about one year ago that my HG failed, boy time flies.
