Hard gas pedal!

Just bought a 92 4R 3.0 and the gas pedal is like stepping on a brick. The acceleration is great and may stick a bit (maybe). Anyone know a fix for this to loosen it up? Is this how they all are? My buddy says it shouldn't be like that. Thanks for ANY insight.

I think the problem is you little chicken legs arent strong enough to depress the pedal. Here are some things you can try.

1) Get off the couch and start doing some clean and jerks. (not the kind of jerks you are used too)

2) Spray some wd-40 down the throttle cable lines.

3) Check the cable going to your cruise control.

4) Let your girlfriend drive it, she is probably strong enough not to complain.

HAHAHA Twisted^^.

Mine is hard too, well, compared to a brand new car. I just learned to deal with it, you get used to it after a while.

I actually like the amount of resistance. The 4th gens feels too easy to push, and since its electronic, its not as responsive. If only it had the feel of a 2nd gen gas pedal....

I'm sorry, I have nothing to contribute to this thread, accept for when I read the tittle, I had to reply to it and tell you to just be happy it's not sticking and causing uncontrollable acceleration...

After about 30 mins of driving its not bad.
I say lube that gas pedal cable up.

My 86 was like that, but with my 85 its like stepping on a sack of cotton balls...

A couple other 4runners i've driven all had really stiff gas pedals too. I like it, makes me feel like i got more control.

I am used to it now. Today is the first day i have driven it all day. (Just bought it) I don't mind it now and i think i like it. It was just a major difference compared to my Jeep GC. I do miss that thing that the jeep used to do though... what was it called? Oh yeah, accelerate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
