Had to replace my CV the other day..
So basically, I went Night wheeling with my buddy on 42s..(not the greatest of all Ideas)
Hes in his rig in front, and Im behind him..He roosters completely cakes my windshield..Out of washer fluid, look out my window as im going and get just clobberd in the face with mud..so I cant see and am trying to memorize the ruts. ( had gone through them before) yet I turned against them, slammed down on a rock, ( didnt puncture the tire luckly ) and broke my CV..By all means Im not a mechanic..Just have basic knowledgable skills..But thats what this site is for Right?
Anywho. First time I had to replace something like. this The ol 3VZE has always run strong, so had no worries with it.
Just taught myself along the way, and looked at the FSM. Cuz the books you buy at Napa..Are pretty much worthless to me
Heres Wills Rig
POS FORD lol
My rig the 92

oh yeah to be able to drive and not have the clunking if u take the plate that goes from splines to the hub u can drive with out it being an issue. i did this to mine. and had to drive on the freeways so i had to pull the plate so i wouldn't lock up on me..

I think the best part about it, was not having to take the brake assembly off...I was glad to not have to make things more complicated.. I am however Investing in Manual hubs, and buying 2in bjspacer/coil lift from wabfab..What do you guys think Good idea?

yeah u can break the cv or lock them up if u get too much of an angle... also if u are putting in a new joint and have to get the old one out it doesn't take much to get the old one out just light taps i would think if that.
