a great mod i have discovered

i work in a kragen, and this guy came in looking for a headlight dimmer switch. i think it was for his ford pickup. anyway, this switch is floor mounted. and it is a pushbutton for your foot.

i took the idea for this switch and put it in my 4runner next to my clutch pedal to operate my 100w offroad hella500s. works perfectly. exactly what i was looking for. i dont have to take my hands off of the steering wheel or anything to turn my really bright lights on and off.

just thought i would share with you what an awesome and amazingly cheap switch mod that was. 3.99! a lifetime warranty part from borg warner

ill post pictures tomorrow

Yeah, most ford pickups have the highbeam/lowbeam switch mounted to the floor.

Pretty cool mod though.

I'm a firm believer that the hi/lo switch should still be on the floor. Loved that in my old Chevy.

Used to be a pretty common kill switch. If you ever see your hellas flashing on and off you'll know someone's trying to make off with your truck.

Good idea...except, I have big feet, and I can hardly push in the clutch pedal without my foot hitting the floor to the left, or the pedal to the right.

I might make a button like that to light all my lights at once. Or even better a 'kill switch'.

But knowing me i'd accidentally hit it while driving, that would suck.

I found my self constantly hitting the switch on my F250 when I would jump in it, how often are you really using your 100 watt lights?

They were great in there day, but put a few northern Ontario winters on that switch and would corrode and short out in no time.
