Got stuck tonight:(

Yeah I know...it happens.

Anyway, went down a trail and basically I bottomed out on every tree I ran over so I decided instead of backing up (couldn't reverse) to go down a pretty steep embankment and get back on the road. I decided to chance it

I went front first and I could barely fit between some trees. I needed to turn left but ended up hitting a stump. Tried to reverse and you know how that goes with a 2wd in reverse uphill. Needless to say I dug for a couple hours and went back and forth for awhile until a couple drunk hooligans came from nowhere in a suburban and helped me push it uphill a little (in reverse) then I had to literally jump most of the stump. And I got out. I took some pics but it will be a little before I can get them up.

I'm thinking my senior project will be a 2wd to 4x4 SAS

Or I just need to bring a shovel, come a long, and a chain

2wd to 4wd isn't as easy as it sounds.
...but knock yerself out.
If you're 'silly' enough to take a 2wd truck out without at least another truck to help... well, 'nough said.
personally, I think the come-along, shovel and chain... though more work, will do you more good.
...and it's something you can use on the 4wd too.

no, you should get some kind of locker for the rear. You would be surprised at how much more you will get through.

4WD on a 2WD truck is almost as easy as an SAS is on a 4by. You just need a few extra parts to make it work right like a 4x4 rear axle, transmission, transfer case, drive shaft etc. I've seen it done.

For the way you use your truck I'd definitely throw a lunchbox locker in the rear. You'll be shocked at how much better it performs and it's cheap.

2wd to 4wd isn't too bad. My buddy has a 90' 2wd SAS 4wd conversion, and it works GOOD. But a locker would be sweet too
