Hi everybody,


just recently got my replacement muffler (stock from toyota) and when i crawled under to take a look at the old one i noticed the bolts connecting the muffler pipe to the cat pipe are rusted soo bad that i dont even see the threads on the bolt on the other side. How does one go about taking out a bolt like this w/out having to pull out the sawzall?

Soak it in some PB Blaster for a day or 2, or even before that try to heat it up with a small hand torch.....

If it's a bolt and nut then just break them, and get new ones. If it's a stud attached to one side of the flange then use the PB blaster and heat, and hope you don't break them.

I used a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder and cut mine off, then bought some stainless ones to replace them. You might try that.

accualy i would try what everyone else reccomends...or you could do the poor mans way like me and use your dremel to cut off your VERY rusted out running board bolts (that took a long time and a lot of those little cut off wheels)

HAhA - I tried the dremel once on a small bolt - after breaking two of those little wheels I gave up and got out the real grinder. I know what ya mean man.
