Got my catalytic converter stolen last night

And whoever did it used a hacksaw on my muffler and front pipe, so I basically need a completely new exhaust system

I hope the lowlife slime who did it burns in hell. Oh, he also stole my kid's bike at the same time.

I know it won't get your cat back (pun intended), but I got one of these in the last few weeks:

www.catclamp.com - $178 bucks well spent.

It's cheaper than replacing a sawed off cat, and also less than my insurance deducible.

Taking your kid's bike was probably for scrap value. He probably won't give it to his kids, if he has any. Slime bag!

The cat clamp, or the theft?

The theft is for the scrap value of a catalytic converter. On older Toyotas, they have more valuable metals in them that can bring $40. Follow the money. As for the bike, the 50 cent scrap value is just for spite, and his/her meth habit.

People are just strange...... I'm planning on buying and after market cat from LCE and replacing mine before someone decides they want it. Then I'll take it and sell it to the scrap place.

The cat clamp has aircraft wire that goes around your frame. It's really difficult if not impossible to cut. They would have to saw your frame in pieces, and I don't think they have time for that. More time to get caught.

Their tool of choice is a cordless sawz-all and it takes time to cut up a frame.

I should get you all a picture to make it clear!

I remenber when i worked at Carquest a couple years ago. We had a couple 1994 Toyota 2wd truck still in use. I came out and someone had stolen the front hub off the truck..Funny thing he had the truck on a concrete block hub cap all five wheel bolts and all other bolts neatly arranged on the ground.. He was a very courteous thief..

I never heard of anyone stealing a cat convertor that sucks..Even sucks more about your kids bike..

Hang in there..

Hahahahaha, camo, my truck didn't come with a cat either but I need to throw one on down the road because there's wind of the man requiring e-tests in the area my truck is registered (presently outside the required e-test area in Ontario). My truck's never had an e-test, maybe I'll luck out and reach the cut-off date because it's an 88 and it'll never have to have one, if not then I gotta make sure I pass.

I have several friends in Toronto who've lost their cats to theivin' tweakers. One of them owns a Nissan Versa and has lost 3 in the past 2 years, all 3 times they were stolen when he was parked for the night in his driveway, his house being a little north of downtown in a "posh" area that is supposed to be a quiet and safe neighborhood.

One of my now former friends in the city got big into meth a few years back, he's in jail now for theft (you guessed it, he stole cats and got caught, sawzall-handed). He used to brag about how he could make more money in an afternoon selling scrap than most people doing a week's worth of honest work. Funny thing was he lived in a tiny craphole of an apartment (cleanest one in the building most likely) with a futon, a tv, and a (likely stolen) laptop. All his money went into his loc.

I had somebody attempt to steal my cat, but they actually used a ratchet set and wrenches. Needless to say they got 2 of the 4 bolts off, but gave up because the other ones were to rusted to get off.

It's a pretty bloody easy truck to steal a cat off of, because there's at least 1.5 feet of ground clearance underneath it. I can change my clutch out without even bringing out the jack or jackstands.

took mine off over a year ago. and my brother took his off the same night. next day i took them to the scrap yard. heard i could get 100 bucks a pop and we needed money for rent. got to the scrap yard and they said since people have been hittin all the car lots in town and stealin all the cats, i could only get 10 bucks a piece. the next day, a detective showed up at my work and ran a huge investigation. took finger prints, questioned me, my brother (who had a pending application in at the local police department) my neighbors, and my boss. 8 dollars for a hack saw, 20 dollars for flex pipe and clamps (only to eventually buy cherry bombs once money showed up). a lot of damn trouble for nothing. but my brothers 82 el camino sounds better without the cat, so it wasn't a total loss.

I had a set of front fenders for a Mazda b series truck stolen out of my yard last winter. Had them leaning up against the garage overnight, someone propably just took them for spare change in scrap value, when I paid 50 bucks for them.

If I ever caught some low life trying to cut the cat out of my yota... he'd find himself staring down the business end of a .45, praying for the police to show up!
