gonna do the 3.4 swap

Ok heres my situation, i have 2 4 runners, a 92 and a 94, both have the a340h at. my questions are, i there a better year and model truck i should go after for my swap? I am aware that i need to find an at donor. Im trying to avoid having to rewire the harness, but if i get the complete donor vehicle i shouldnt have to. Right? Does the a340h and the a340f mount to the vehicle the same fasion? so if i cant find a complete donor ill find a a340f (hope im correct on the at #s) and have the valve body (correct term?) redone to handle a possible sc in the future future. thanx for any info yall throw out my way

You will have to do some rewiring. No way around it.

Sounds like you got LOTS of research still to do.

Like he said, there is no way around the wiring part. Its not that hard but not that simple either. Says you are in Arizona so that is a plus that you do not have to deal with emissions in California that make everything 10 times as hard.

Personally I would stay the hell away from the 340H as an option. There are threads in the swap section but it seems like there are so many variables to make everything work correctly that I would just go with a 340F, or better yet a a manual R150.

Not sure if you know so I will post here. There is a 3.4 swap forum here

My thread is here. I tried to detail as much as possible so this should give you a good idea of what to expect.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING A COMPLETE VEHICLE AND NOT JUST A MOTOR/ECM.

funny u say that i was in the middle of reading an old thread, i think lonestarmac started it. If im reading correctly, it states that the ecm, complete harness and engine from a t100 auto will bolt up and operate fine with no rewire, Except for the speed sensor issue. I havent gotton far enough in my research to find out if someone makes a speed sensor adaptor for the a340h to work with the t100 at ecm. i dont know cuz i have not read anything YET! that explains if i can connect the a340h tcase to a340f without changing any crossmember or tranny mount. im also reading threads from back when ors was in business, so im sure a few thing will be a bit more difficult to source

does it go engine, engine harness through fire wall to ecm. ecm, body harness? Is it the body harness plug that has to be repinned/ rewired to plug in to donor ecm?

Now, keep in mind I'm running both a manual transmission and a manual transmission ECM. That said, the majority of the rewiring for mine was the two connectors under the dash to mate with the harness there. All the original engine harness merely fed through the firewall and plugged into the ECM with no modifications.

I dont really understand this but like Rob said, you do NOT have to rewire the motor. There are 4 plugs off the ECM 3 of them you will not cut into and they will plug in as the come from the motor. The last plug you will cut and splice into for the functions that are related to the VEHICLE rather than the motor. Such things as gauges, fuel pump, tach, etc. Its not that hard but I do not have cruise so I cannot speak to that, and I still have not tackled the AC part but I am going to have to do that soon. I have read that its not hard but I haven't been able to get my brain around it yet.

Toyota has made it easy as most of the wires have the same colors. I.E. black is the tach signal for both generations and so on. There are a few that are different however.

decided to price a 97 t100 3.4, engine harness and ecm.$ 2500 out the door from the stealership with a 3 year warranty! doesnt seem to bad to me, i source some of the other parts needed from a couple yota yard round here for about 3 to 4 hundred bucks. so far less than 3k does this sound pretty close to what a swap runs with an additional $1000 for crossover fab and exhaust?
