Heh. I'm in the same boat. My exhaust is leaking in between the ex manifold to downpipe, downpipe to cat, pipe to front of muffler and muffler to tailpipe. The biggest leak is from the pipe to the muffler. I still have the stock muffler though. What size are you asking about? I believe the stock piping size is 2" inside diameter, maybe 2 1/8. If you are asking about the length, then just measure whatever is on now and get that size and I would weld it on.

i have a 40 series on my 22RE now..2.5" pipes after the cat, its loud, and obnoxious, deep tone not really ricery, more like a "flowmaster on a 4cyl" is what i've been told

i ran a 2.5" glasspack on both a 20R and 22RE....very loud, 20R was straight piped (header..18" pipe, glasspack, STRAIGHT pipe to the back)...set of car alarms and whatnot. 22RE was header, 2.5" pipe, hollowed cat, glasspack, 2.5" pipes out the back.....that was retarded loud, espically at 3500rpms+ set off alot of car alarms and had noise complaints from neighbors..

i'm out of the glasspack stage now that i drive to and from school/work everyday (50+ miles roundtrip)

well, like i said my buddies sounds awesome, with the 40 and no tailpipe. cheapest way would be to just cut off the muffler to make it louder, illegal, but louder. thats how mine was when i got it. it was loud. but not as loud as that nissan. but i had to buy a muffler cuz it wouldnt pass inspection.

if you want loud go 2.25" or 2.5" glasspack
i've always clamped my mufflers on, since i change my exhaust setup alot

I was just about to make a post within the last day or so about what would be the best muffler to buy. Except i wouldnt want it loud. Im wanting a more quite but nice low sound to it. or deep sound i guess. :/

Sounds so far, if you want loud, glasspack. If you want more quite, flowmaster.

I have just a stock, with a hole in the bottom on the middle... Should probably get a new one.... but idk if its worth it yet.

What benefits have you guys seen with the new mufflers?

glasspacks....loss of top end power, loss of gas mileage, headaches

flowmaster...low end power improvement, when used with an air intake setup, it makes a smoother running engine

Use a cherry bomb turbbo muffler or thrush turbo muffler, $20 at autozone, advance, or many other auto stores, sounds good, cheap, load but not annoying, and it is not just a pipe.

I run a glasspack. I take my engine past 5,000rpm daily, I noticed a gain in mid-top end power.. Low end seems the same.. I like the sound, some don't...

Most people lose power because they will put a big pipe diameter on their truck (2.5"+)...

glasspacks are for tight wads or old fords.

buy a flowmaster or if your gash hurts get sumthing like a magnaflow or dynomax

DT header, flex joint , Hi flow cat, summit glasspack, and 2.25 ID pipe through. Love the sound not to loud but ricer like over 4000RPM (oh Toyota is a ricer duh). I like the set up,did most of the work myself. 22re's need back pressure so you'll suffer losses with too wide of pipe with no cat.

Hey, I just installed a glasspack on my 86 22R. I used the stock pipe and cat up untill where the old muffler was, it was 1.75 inch. The glasspack was 2 inch, so i bought a pipe adapter, and i bought some strait pipe of 2 inch. So it goes 1.75, adapter to glasspack, then strait pipe no bends 2 inch diameter to the back of truck. I just used exhaust clamps, do em up real tight and it wont leak. Heres a video of my exhaust with it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFO-93DGwlE
