Gen 1s - Paint the top or not?

Time to chime up - let's hear your opinion.

Should one paint the top the same color as the truck, leave it black (or whatever) or do something else entirely?

Let's also hear from people who have painted the top about how long and how well it's holding up. As always...photos speak volumes.

All of the tops are white. If it is not white, it has a gel coat color sprayed on it. If you paint it, it will have more gloss than it did when new.

Are you sure? If I remember correctly you could get them in black and also red if the truck was red

If you take the top off, look where it meets the seals it is white. I have stripped several 4runners of different colors. The tops were cast in white, then color put on, you can even see areas that were not colored.

Lighter colors are better for fiberglass. I painted mine the same color as the truck (orange-red).
