Gearing delema

I recently put 33x10.50 TSL's on my 92 ext. cab 22re 5 speed. I knew it was going to be a turd, and it is. Now, i have an opportunity to buy a rough 95 4runner with a V6 5 speed for cheap. I believe this would have 4:56 gears, which would be an improvement. However, i would rather have 4:88's. So my question is would it be worth it to swap in the 4:56's or should i look for 4:88's? I may go to 34's or 35's one day, so that may answer my question....I'm mainly looking for personal experience.

I would go 5.29's and do it once anyway, especially with how heavy even a 33 TSL is. I doubt you'll even notice a swap to 4.56.

With a 5 speed, 4.88s would be alright with 34/35s as well. Have you thought about looking for a serious of factory 4.88s?

I can ship you a set. (complete rear third, and front row&p) let me know.

If you have an auto, and 35s, that's when 5.29s become a necessity.

Could you PM me some prices on that? Now I think I am just deciding between 5:29's and 4:88's. This is my DD for the moment and the way it is now is slow and harder on my wallet

Dont assume that 4runner has 456's. Check the door code first but actually counting the teeth is the only way to tell for sure. I purchased front and rear diffs off a junkyard 4runner this year and it ended up having 488 in the front and 456 in the rear. I wouldnt want 456's with 33's anyway.

With a 5 speed 22re 33 10.50's and 488's are the perfect combo. Thats what I am running now. If you go any bigger you will prob need to regear yet again.
