Gear driven Tcase for V6 Pickup?

So i was out at a junkyard and managed to find a 4cyl tcase out of an 84 pickup and i was looking at doing a gear reduction in the future and decided to pick it up for a good price. I was looking at the case and its a forward shift case, but all the V6 trans to 4cyl tcase adapters ive found are only for top shift cases, ive seen forward to topshift conversion kits (i think TG has them) but i was wondering if itd be more worth it to just try and find a top shift, or modify the current one, im not looking at throwing this case into my truck until after i do my 3.4 engine swap this summer hopefully, but id like to start getting my ducks in a row. Thanks for any advice! i'm a total newbie to actually posting on forums https://www.yotatech.com/forums/images/smilies/baby.gif

Welcome to the forum. Yes, you need a top shift case. Couple options here. You can convert on your own with spare parts : Check this link > http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/toyot...-case-use.html

Or if you can find a top shift for less than the price of a TG conversion kit.

Or. Take the opportunity to upgrade, and get the TG twin stick top shift conversion, and be able to have 2 low. Plus the parts come ready to drop into a case with 4.7 years. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...l#post52253758

Merp, Hmmm looking at prices on TG it may be better just to buy their fully built case with 4.7 gears as i think itd only cost like 200 extra ish? 1200 for the adapter and built case, vs 1000ish for the gears, the adapter, and the top shift conversion... all the decisions to make... I'm not even sure where to go with this as I've also decided to do a tummy tuck next to get some decent brakeover angle instead of dragging my tcase crossmember everytime i go wheeling...

Well.. a little "tummy tuck" is a budbuilt skidplate. It replaces the 3" crossmember with a 1/2" piece of smooth steel. And the v6 option comes with a trans skid. He can also make them to accommodate a drive train lift. Its pretts beefy, but pricey.

Website is meh, but great phone customer service. http://www.budbuilt.com/

Hey I'm just wondering if you like your exhaust and how it has been for your vehicle as I'm thinking about doing the same thing except with a cherry bomb tip.
