gauge installation - wire color question

I am going to install an aftermarket temp gauge in my 88 with 22re. What color is the hot wire for the ignition switch? I need that to power the gauge. Then what color is the wire for the lights? I need to know which ones to tap into. Thanks.

I am also wondering this for my 91. I installed an aftermarket tack and had to wire the light to keyed 12 volts. I am not sure about your 88 but the book says white wire with black stripe is the lights. I tried this and couldnt get it to work so I dont know what the deal is.

if you look at the wires behind the stereo, the red is switched 12v, yellow is constant 12volts. and orange is illumination 12volts.
