G52 to W56

I just bought a used w56 from a 87 4runner to replace the jamming g52 in my truck and have a couple of ?s.
First: Is the transfercase shifter supposed to be pointing so far forward? I cant even see the shift pattern on the knob. The one in the g52 is straight up.

Second: Does your w56 transmission shifter collide with the transfercase shifter when shifting into reverse? Sometimes it wont shift into reverse because of the transfercase lever.

Third: I removed the shifter to inspect the tranny and noticed the hole where the shifter socket rides in is missing half of the bottom. Is this normal?

Lastly: Is it worth it cutting up the floorboard just to get it in or get a forward shifting one? Has anyone else done this and have any pictures of how much was cut and how you filled the rest of the hole?

Thanks for the Help!!! Ill post pics later

Me too. Maybe the t-case shifter can be rotated in its base somehow?

Im sure the bushing is worn and so is the socket. But what i meant was if you remove the shifter base and look down into the hole the socket rides in, half of the bottom is missing.
As for the tcase this is the matching one. W56 top Shift. Or you think I should find a forward shift w56?(89-95)

Here are some more. This is what i meant seems to be be missing half of the bottom but at the same time it looks factory because of clean cut. Is this right?

The hole in the bottom of the shifter looks just like mine did when I did the same swap. the shifter on the tcase looks like it might be mounted backwards? Mine looked the same though and I ended up bending the shifter tower a little so it would shift nice.

To modify the floor I cut the tunnel section of the floor out of the donor 4runner from around the shifter hole and planned to used it like a sheet metal skin over the floor pan of my truck. I ended up only using the very tip of the tunnel to cover the opening where it stuck out from under the front of the shifter. I herculined the crap out of it to cover up the patch job, but the cab was an automatic to begin with so the floor already had some 'issues'.

Well thanks for the response, maybe now i can get started on the swap. It just seemed strange to be missing half of the bottom. I was afraid it might have fallen in and on first start grind up all the gears. The one in the g52 is a full circle.
