Talking Full off road protection ideas

here what i plan on doing over the next few years:

(idea from The Lost World Jurassic Park)

(idea thanks to Olharleyman)
Also i will purchase the in-cab roll cage from AllPro OffRoad.
and full frame skidplate front to back.

Now i can purchase all nessesary items. i am getting a custom front bumper made my olharleyman. and i'm saving for a Big Country customs(from BC) rear bumper and AllProOffRoad sliders and connect them all together via a tube that will act like a wheel arch extension.

Just putting it out there. Tell me what you guys think? i plan on using this rig to go anywhere safely!!!!! i personally can't wait to get started.

i prefer something more unique and this also protects windows so people can't climb inside and steal thing if they smash my windows. and i kinda like the design on the Mercedes Unimog M-Class look more than this:

so do i, hense why i agreed to move to Belize! but the jungles here are so crazy, to go down an "expert" trail is like signing a stock vehicles death warrent. so i want my Surf to be able to take me to hell and back, and i figure if i get all that armor and some lockers i will have no problems.

IMHO - that looks gay. What support do those window bars have? What are they attached to? if you were to roll onto those things, they would bend in and shatter those windows...

I'd say no to the window bars. If you are involved in an accident that leaves the doors blocked or inoperable, well there goes your escape, especially if it is on fire. I recall people using "protecto-gard" bars on their homes, untill more people were dying in house fires.

well the outside bars are not ment for roll over protection cause i'm not careless enough with my rig to bring it close to rolling point. the bars are welded on, just watch the lost world, you can see them putting them together. and the windshield is not going to be blocked. exo-skeletons are TO extreme for my taste. and i want bars over the windows for mulitple reasons, one being break-ins are very common when your down south in Belize and in Guetamala.

if they smash your window they can just reach in and unlock and open the door. you may like the way the Mercedes looks, but a full exo will protect you and your runner better.

Well, they may not survive a roll over, but they'll keep those pesky Velociraptors and T-rex's out...

Exo cage would work so much better. All that metal on the outside of the benz would bend in a heartbeat if you hit anything imho..

I would do an exo cage. Dont have to go nuts, but a good cage, sliders and whatnot is a good idea.

Try to remember, guys, that the vehicle in the first pic is a movie prop.
Belize, keep that in mind as you work out the details...

i know, but something closer to that Benz rather than a full body exo- would better suit my needs. an exo just seems to extreme for me, this is like a tuned down exo.

actually, im pretty sure that mercedes makes the unimog, not the otherway around... and as far as i know its not an offroad mods company, as much as its just a model that mercedes sells outside the US. i have seen a couple unimogs in the dakar rally though...

good luck on whatever you do

Looks a lot better than a full exo. Still ugly, but definitely better than the jungle gym look.
