Fuel Problem?

95 v6 3vze truck seems to not be getting fuel. It keeps slowing way down and popping or back firing. I have to let completely off the gas downshift and pat the gas to get it to kick back in. The truck is idling fine. Im going to change the fuel filter and see if that helps. I think I just changed it last year but the truck sat a while so maybe some trash got in the line.

Could be lean, could be rich, too. Timing can cause backfire, too. Before you start replacing things, I'd pull the plugs and see what they tell you.

There is also a filter/strainer in the tank, in case the other things don't fix the problem.

Changed all the spark plugs today and the problem is still there and getting worse. I checked the fuel filter and its from 09. The truck has had less than 3000 miles on in since then. I dont know what it could be. It only starts popping and shutting off on acceleration. At idle its fine.
