well its been 4 times now taking my gas tank out and i was wondering if i can get some help on how to hook up the main fuel line to the fuel pump hose so theirs no leaks. i know theirs a proper fitting that threads in to the fuel pump hose but i was wondering if i can just cut the brass line behind the fitting with pipe cutters and flair it and just clamp 1/4inch hose on? i would rather do that then risk pinching the brass line trying to unthread the fitting. thanks

I just cut the steel tube and slid the hose on and put 2 fuel injection clamps on each end. The pumps on these engines hardly ever go over 35-40 PSI. I have never had a problem.

ive been using fuel injected rubber hose with 2 clamps on each end for 5+ yrs now, and havent had any problems, the pressure is low enough that it doesnt hurt. but it is 5/16 for the high pressuer line, 1/4 is too small and starves the engine for fuel at high rpms.

what fittings do you use to adapt it from 1/4 fuel line to 5/16? does the high pressure line have to be 5/16 all the way back past the fuel filter?

I believe I did 1/4" flexible EFI rated hose all the way. Double clamps on anything that does not have a slight flare/bubble on the tube end. i.e. double at the tank and fuel rail input, single at the filter. I just used a napa $5 steel filter with the right ins and outs. Has been >1yr, no issues.

1/4" FI hose is too small. 5/16th's is the size I used when I cut the lines for my fuel filter. Now I can change the fuel filter in 10 minutes. I also used 5/16th's when one of my lines rusted out.

No adapters, the tube slides over the metal pipe. Then use a screw clamp. Honestly I would just do the fuel filter now while you have the chance. Get it over with.

I just rechecked and it is 5/16 that I ran all the way. I ordered 10ft on line and even with shipping was still cheaper than napa. Think it was some $2.50/ft there!

well the metal pipe is tight with 1/4 inch hose on it . now if i put 5/16 on it will it leak? i did replace the fuel filter but i was wondering if i have to run the 5/16 hose all the way to the motor? the fuel line that the original owner installed is 1/4 inch so i went with that not knowing that it will starve the motor at high rpms. will this do any damage to my motor or just cause lack of performance at higher rpms?how much of a power difference will i notice? if its a lot of power loss i will take the tank out for th 5th time

its a huge loss for power, cant go over 3,000 rpms with out sputtering

well i haven't noticed sputtering over 3,000 rpms but if its a huge loss of power then i have to swap the line for 5/16 and take the tank out for the 5th and last time. so i obviously have to run the fuel line all the way past the fuel filter and to the motor to keep the fuel flow consistent right? because the previous owner ran 1/4 from the motor to the out side of the fuel filter. now how hard is it to run the line to the motor? i haven't followed the line all the way back to the motor yet. i can't see y it would be to hard seeing that im working on a toyota lol.

I camped mine right onto the fuel tube beside the passenger header. I had to pull it back with a ziptie to keep it off the header now that I recall. The 5/16" line was fairly tight, no leaks what so ever.
