Fuel filter woes

I've had this truck for a couple of years now and it is starting to have issues that indicate a fuel filter replacement is necessary. This seems like it should be fairly easy, I read a couple of posts and got the parts. Then I climbed under the truck only to find that a previous owner had tried this before.

Exhibit 1:

After much looking and calling locally I gave up and decided to order a new section of hard fuel line and replace the offending fitting. So I found what sounded like the right one. Nope, no such luck for me. It is the only one that I can find that has the 14mm end on it.

Exhibit 2:

There is an O ring on the end!

So... where can a guy buy a new fitting or section of fuel line?

You might be able to get a line at your Toyota dealer

Maybe try Federal Hill Trading Company

I buy all my Brake line from them.

For a long time Autozone carried "miscellaneous" lengths of fuel line with the fittings already installed on each end. Last time I checked I didn't see them, but that's a place to start.

Worse comes to worse, you can get a "double flare" tool and make your own from stock line. The advantage is that you get exactly the length you want. The disadvantage is that these flares aren't easy to make with a professional tool, and the hand-tool is tricky to use.

It is not so much the line but the correct nut .

I had one so bad I ended up replacing the filter with a aftermarket one from Summit Racing
