Been doing a tune up on the 89 4runner and I can't find the fuel filter to save my life. (maybe its due to the caked dirt?) But could someone please tell me what its next to or something? Everyones told me its on the frame rail but I cannot find it to save my life, any help??

now it may have a metal guard on it which may make it tougher to see like the picture in the link..easiest way is to start closer to the rear and follow the fuel line up.

on the 22RE I think it sits on the passenger side of the engine block doesn't it?

Well since you don't want to reveal your engine, we can guess it's the 4cyl from what you've written. There's a black hatch on the passenger side wheel well that will help out a lot getting to it.

well i have the fuel lines removed, oh...yea sorry about that one guys..its a 4cyl. But ne ways, I've got the lines removed now all thats holding me is getting the top bolt off!!

PCV valve is on top of the valve cover between a rubber hose and a rubber grommet on the valve cover.

I have a quick question regarding fuel filters as well. My truck was a factory v6, but now has a 22RE (previous owner swapped it in). So I have 2 fuel filters: the one on the frame near the passenger door and the one on the block of the 22RE. Would it be possible to eliminate the one on the frame with some rubber fuel line hose? What could it hurt? I figure it's easier than changing it.

Good for you!! haha. Well I do have splash guards and all that jazz but after some busted and bruised up knuckles and hands; everything is fixed and working wonderfully. Next is the exhaust leak ... I feel like I'm a druggy every time I ride in that thing.

Yes it would. I had to use some rubber line to make a splice when the fuel line sprung a leak above my fuel tank. I only used it, though, until I had the time to drop the tank.

Metal line would be better. A flaring tool, some fittings, and a short piece of tube would be easy enough and cheap enough to install as a permanent repair.
