I tried searching and looking thru the FSM, but I cant find any info on where my fuel filter is or how to replace it...any help?

On my '84 it is right next to the fuel tank, a little above the frame rail; don't know if would be the same on a 9 year younger truck.

Nope.
It is inconveniently placed below the intake manifold, and rarely gets changed because it requires 12 inch long fingers and a noodly wrench.

Not to hijack, but I'd like to add a spyglass filter before the regular filter on my '90. Anyone done this, and where did you put it? Seems to me that a good remedy to not being able to easily access the Toyota filter would be to "pre filter" and keep it from needing to be changed as often (or at all).

Amen to that. I swear There's a Japanese engineer laughing at me everytime I try to stick my big American hands into some of the spots on these trucks!

Look through the passenger wheel well, it's rear of the oil filter and above the starter. You can drive yourself crazy trying to change it. I have the exact same truck, and it took me an hour or so. I decided it could wait on my 4runner until I pulled the motor! Good luck.

You already have a pre-filter in your tank before it goes to the regular filter......

Yeah, it's a major PITA just to try to even touch the thing, much less get tools in there to change it. I replaced mine about 2 months ago, but only because I had the intake manifold off and it was right there.

If you have a body lift, it may be a bit easier, but don't hold me to that...

Take the front passenger tire off and go in through the fender. It's right above the starter moter and below the intake manifold. You'll need a 12mm socket to get off the mounting bolts and a 17mm flare nut wrench for the fuel line fittings. Disconnect the battery, just in case you come into contact with the starter motor contacts. You definitly don't want sparks when doing this job.

I am getting what seems like no gas when I try to accererate at low rpm's. It kind of does a few chugs once in a while. It is fine at idle and at higher rpm's.

It happens mostly just under 2000 rpm's by 2500 it is running fine. It almost feels like I am going over bumps, but it definetly is the motor doing something.

It is exactly what happend in my Gf's tercel and my friends pickup, and replacing the fuel filter fixed both of theirs.

I had a simillar issue, eventually I had an engine code for my AFM. You might want to check yours out with an ohm meter. The AFM turns the fuel pump on amongst other things. It wouldn't hurt to at least check it out ans if the resistance values are within spec.

I doubt its the fuel filter.......The pre filter in your tank takes out most of the large sediment and particles......
