fuel/air no start mystery help
ok my daily driver.. having issues starting replaced cap rotor wires plugs... then i found 2 mornings ago thanks to 4 crawler i jumped the fuel pump and she started..
today it was being nice and started up on its own...
on my way to work started bucking surging and dieing when i breaked...
so i bump started it to a parking lot and parked it ..tow home
so i figure its the fuel pump..jump the fuel pump and i hear it..crack the cold start injector and fuel spurts out.. so now my truck wont start again..this time even if i jump the fuel pump...
where do i start..is this issue the same issue as no start damp mornings
also my trail rig died after 2 hours on the trail..funny enough doing something similar but more back firing and bucking but it wont die like the daily driver did..
so now i have 3 broke down yotas...

my runner did something not exactly similar, but while driving, sometimes would start detonating badly and loose power, occasionally misfiring and dying.
turned out being the ignitor. but I got a code relating to a loss of IGF signal for 6 events (meaning no spark was detected for 3 crank revolutions).

depending on who you believe, fuel filters are good for a couple hundred thousand miles. i change mine every two years.
how does the oring look under the distributor cap?

Test the fuel pressure.
The fuel pump is working, your getting fuel, maybe not enough pressure. Pull the actuating hose off the top of the regulator and see if fuel has breached the diaphragm. That's an easy one.

it's possible the fuel filter / pump are getting enough fuel to the system to squirt fuel when you disconnect the CS injector, but not enough fuel to keep the engine running. kind of like trying to blow up a balloon through a coffee stirrer straw. You might get a lot of pressure behind your lips, but how much air comes out the other end of the straw? get my meaning? Since you're trail rig is doing similar as well, are you getting gas from the same station for both rigs?
It's possible the ignitor is causing a problem too. When you find it won't start, check that you are getting spark at the plugs. I'm going to guess you have, but double checking isn't such a bad thing. You're timing is set properly too, right? And you've checked the TPS and AFM (I seem to remember you saying you were going to do that on the other thread), right?
There aren't really many things that can go wrong on an EFI engine, but when they do, they can throw you round and round.

i have my tps unplugged on trail rig and its good on my daily driver.... the gas might be from the same place actually!
also i never checkd either afm yet... but i do get spark..
the trail rig seems to idle great but only when i give it gas it bucks and surges and dies....
still cant get my daily driver to start...
both have new plugs but ill stop and get some more incase either is fouled..
im also gonna have to start looking for a more reliable vehicle

is the fuel pressure regulator hard to get at?? is it after the fuel filter?? before it goes to the rail?
