Friends 1988 runner

WEll I have a friend that has a really nice 4runner , hes not into using the computer so I thought Id post some pics of his truck . I am really impressed with it he takes real good care of it and has done some nice work to it . Anyway just thought some of you may enjoy the truck.
painted using a prius paint code , sanded the top and painted it.


New upholstery ,seats door panels and rear carpet

added 6x9 and used some windstar speaker grills


painted side panels with vinyl paint

Moved switches around while adding power windows and mirrors.
He used camry motors for the window, and acura mirror switch.


moved the seat belt reciever part and adda recievers from a cressida.



Added a non cracked dash ,glove box ,vents ,speaker surround and they were all grey he painted them with vinyl paint.


The guy is not into wheeling the truck he just likes the first gen runners and likes taking care of them.

the interior is a little much for my taste, but looks like a nice truck

Nice job, I just can't handle the toyota red interiors personally haha Did you find a decal kit after you did the paint?

One of the cleanest 4Runners ive ever seen. Im not a big fan of the red interior, but its definatly clean.

Yea The red is not my favorite either, its to much.

The exterior red looks great , I think . grey interior would have been awesome.
he spent $1200 on the upholstery door panels ,front seats , back seats and all the rear carpet.
He also got the exterior decals from someone in pheonix he said.

I am just amazed at how good all the spray painting came out on all the interior dash and rear side panels , it really looks good up close.
He added power mirrors and windows the windows work great they slide up and down real fast , he used camry motors to make it work.

It looks very clean and nicely done. I would have chosen a black/gray interior to go with the red exterior, but I tend to favor the less is more kind of style.

If I ever get some money together, I'm going to have the interior redone on mine.

Yea I would have done the grey interior, I still may get the rear carpet in grey for my truck from the same guy he used.

I aslo think the top looks better sanded down smooth instead of the rough look they originally came with.

Wow! That is awesome!

Now, super huge question: The cresida seat belt mod. I TOTALLY need that for my rig, as I have a bunch of custom floor work, and currently the seatbelts on the floor are my stock ones with the plastic removed. They are forever getting hung on the seats, and falling down. That mod looks like the perfect solution:

Do they work with the factory belts? It looks like they do, but just checking. Also, what year cresssida are they out of?

I will find out all the details of that mod, I think he did use the 4runner belts but not 100%sure . Ill get the year and model of cressida from him and post back.

AxleIke he used the receivers from a late 80's cressida not sure of the exact year, he was going around the junk yard with an old seat belt until he found what he needed . he did not pay attention to the year .

Just one more quick question: Did he bolt the new cressida part into an existing hole, or drill out something?

He removed the seats and drilled the hole for the bolt.

you got anymore details on the power window upgrade? possibly how he wired it all up?

I've been looking around in junkyards trying to piece together power windows but don't know how or what will work.

I think the red interior looks great
