Free (I think.....) 90 2x4 parts!!!!!????

Ok, talking to a manager at the auto hobby shop on base (I'm on a military base) about getting some pointers about how to paint my truck. Real nice and helpful guy to a novice-average mechanic like me. Turned out he's got 5 toyota early model pickups he builds for the racetrack.

We got to talkin and he said that he was taking a 90 2x4 to the junkyard soon and if I wanted anything....... he's just taking it to the junkyard anyway....??? It's got a blown 22re headgasket.....

SO............ I have a 87 4x SR5 22RE 4Runner with a decent working engine and parts...... The only problems with my current Runner is the A/C is weak and the Cruise Control doesn't work. Push the button-green light comes on-try to set it and nothing happends. IS THERE ANY UPGRADE OPERTUNITIES FROM PARTS OR TRIM THAT I CAN PULL OFF THE 2X4 PICKUP THAT I CAN PUT TO USE IN THE 4RUNNER WITH ANY KIND OF EASE?????? TPS, AFM, THROTTLE BODY, DOOR HANDLES, C/C COMPUTER, COMBINATIN SWITCH, INTERIOR LIGHTS, SENSORS, ECM, DASH DOODADS.........???????

If your an expert let me know thanks......

No trim or anything, but that 22re would be worth getting. The head and block are the same between the years, You would need to swap on your intake and wiring if you ever needed to use that engine. Changing the HG is EASY, especially with the engine OUT of the truck. Heck. rebuild the engine and sell it for a few hundred!

Get the whole engine if you can, if not get the complete upper intake and throttle body and throttle cable, with a few minor changes the new model upper intake can be swapped onto your 87 22RE, because of its design it has better air flow and will give you a small increase in power, i have this set up for my 86 4Runner that i will be installing soon, check out the link and you will understand what im talking about.

You will also need the throttle cable.

Can I let you know that I am NOT an expert?? lol

Ok, for your cruise. The actuator under the hood, right next to the clutch master cylinder. unbolt it and take out out, disco the air line and cable. carefully, with a flat head screwdriver, pry up the metal tabs so you can open it up.
Make a reference mark or two to be able to put it back together. inside you will find a rubber diaphragm. Odds are, its cracked. It won't hold a vacuum, therefore your cruise control is T/U. Seal up the crack (its most likely circumferential) with rtv. Reassemble and hook everything up.

Try your cruise again.

Another member told me about this trick and it worked perfectly. My rig was from Arizona, and I was told Cruise stopped working years earlier. Been working for a year now, even used it on the way to work this morning.

Sorry I had no input on the "what fits from a 90 pickup into an 87 4Runner" question. But hopefully, this will solve the cruise problem.

It's the brass and black plastic thing. In the engine compartment with a cable to the front and a vac line to the back. Between the clutch master and the coil and igniter. Can't miss it.
