They are Tri Y headers, but I don't know what brand they are. Any Ideas?

Also the guy had 5 thirds laying around. After I figure out the gear ratios how do I choose which one. I need some tips on buying used thirds.

On the 3rds ratio, you just count the teeth. # teeth on the ring gear/ # teeth on the pinion gear = ratio

Are you supercharged? How much more hp can you get with headers?

Thanks goat, but i all ready knew how to figure out the gear ratio. I am looking more for tips on what to look for in terms of wear on the thirds. I know obvious stuff like looking for cracked housing and broken teeth. I just don't know what else I should look
Nope I'm not supercharged. I have read a lot of post about getting more power out of the 22re. And everything I have read says Tri Y headers, a good muffler, and 2.25 pipe is a god way to get more low end torque out of the engine, short of a new cam or a major rebuild.

Well one thing to look for is pitting on the tooth surface. Even very minor pitting can make a lot of noise.

I'm going to start building my exhaust soon and I have some questions.
Where should I get the header exhaust gasket? the dealer, napa or somewhere else? I don't know the manufacture of the headers so i can't go through them.

Where is a good place to get exhaust parts like tubing and flanges? Is there a good on line source?
My plans are to create a whole new exhaust from the headers back. I am going to run 2" pipe to a hi-flow cat, then 2.25 tubing to a flowmaster 40 muffler and then continue with 2.25 tubing the rest of the way back.

I can't decide where to end the exhaust, go through the side panel in front of the rear wheel, straight out the back or exit the stock location behind the rear tire.
I want opinions from anyone w/ a 1st gen 4runner. Depending on where your exhaust exits, how much exist comes into the truck with the rear window down and/ or the top off?

Not sure who makes the header, but it looks like it's for either a 20r or early 22r without air injection, or air injection into the converter. It's missing the ports in the flange for the PAIR manifold so is 'technically' not street legal.

From my research our engines need a 4-2-1 type of header. The 4-1 i believe are for higher reving motors, such as those vtec hondas.

It's a Thorley. You'll like what it does for you. Go through Summit to get a Thorley gasket because Thorley will sale you one direct but they're customer service sucks!. You might want to look on e-bay for exhuast parts, its a good idea to get a fix joint to put on the down pipe, though it doesn't come with one stock but it doesn't come with a header neither. I used a 2" to 2.5" hi flow cat, got off e-bay for $18 - $25 then necked the 2.5 down to 2.25 ID right out of the cat. I used a glasspack then up over the axle and exits the driver rear between rear shackle mount and rear tire. I did the first few welds but had a shop bend it from glasspack back had them do it tight and explained why. I have had no problems with the exit location. Though the portion I did had more holes than swiss cheese. Hit me up with any questions, I'm not up your way much or I'd swing by to show you.

PS if you use a stock gasket the flange will be in the way and if your not careful removing it you'll FUBAR it. Oh and Thorley doesn't have the pair shaped ports like the head does. Make sure to use studs for fasteners, except for the center most which needs a brass or copper washer.

So I locked out on some parts finds.
Someone locally rolled there 4Runner in the snow and I got a lot of parts.
Her is the list:
Transmission and transfer case
SR5 gage cluster
2.25 exhaust w/ a flowmaster 40
door armrests
door and window seals
rear door carpet and plate
washer fluid res w/ a new motor
second tow hook for the front

The exhaust is on and it sounds great and has a little more low end power. I just have to get a few more parts and i can put the headers on.
Then the next big task will be putting the transmission in with a new MC clutch and shifter bushings. The truck is coming along faster then I had planned.
