Found a 94 4x4 v6 that I may purchase but... it's auto. Worth it?
Asking $3500
v6
170k ( how many miles are the auto trans good for? )
body 8/10 (few small dents, big scratch on fender has surface rust )
interior 8/10
maroon, chrome brush guard
Is it really worth it? I'd plan on doing a 5spd swap down the road if I really end up liking the truck but I haven't owned an auto for 15+ years. Just really looking to upgrade to a 4wd truck.

Who can say ??
Maybe it was well taken care of regular maintenance done then again it might have the original automatic transmission fluid still in.
Was the timing belt done or is that a disaster about to happen??
How old is the radiator is that about to fail trans fluid and antifreeze are not a good mix.
What is the suspension and brake system like??
We all look at different things when looking to buy.
Good luck

Do compression check
3.0's tend to blow around 170k or do. Their reputation is a mixed bag. Some have no problems, some nothing but. A guy at church has a 92 with over 300k doing just normal maintenance and the head gasket recall.
A lot depends on your local market.
A 3rd gen extended cab around Portland seem like gold. I have seen guys asking $7-8k.

I have 261k on my v6 auto. As said previously, do a compression check and I would also pull the dipstick for the trans. Granted the seller could have just changed the fluid, but there's a slight chance you'll find bad fluid and know it's time to definitely walk away.
