FJC owner looking to add the to Yota Fam
Hello!
This is my first post here, I'm active on two FJC forums. I Have a lightly modded FJC and wheel it pretty often.
I'm about to buy a house that is about 30 miles from my work and I'm looking for a beater to keep the miles off of the FJ. I'm looking at this 86 pickup

She Definitely looks like a beater!! The truck has been on CL for a while, the guy keeps bouncing between 2k and 1500k. I offered him 500 a few weeks ago and he came back with 900. I'd like to pay 700. The tires look crappy but I have several sets of FJC rims and tires that I think can be swapped onto it. I'm not concerned with the appearance at all. I actually like the look of a beat up toyota! Reminds me of the Top Gear segment!
I'm not looking to make it a rock crawler or anything.. YET maybe some dirt trails here and there.. and I'm not very mechanically inclined but looking to learn. This appears to be a truck that will give me an excuse to buy tools and get my hands greasy.
Sorry for the book... but here is my questions.. how much would you offer for this truck? What things should I look for when I check it out? Is it even worth it? what kind of MPG do these things get?
