FINALLY! After months and months work....

...the '93 is running and road-ready. Turns out that the metal vacuum pipes attached to the head were clogged (don't ask how) and causing the truck to surge then die.

Now I'm putting on the finishing touches, so I have a question: where is the oil pressure sender connector on the wiring harness? Isn't it supposed to be on the same line with the brown connector going to the starter? I have two wiring harnesses and neither has the white wire I see in everyone's pictures. I'm wiring up my new SR-5 cluster and need it to get the oil gauge going.

When all is said and done, I will post some pics of this truck which has been the bane and love of my life.

Sigh....I wish I could say it was from an AWESOME wheeling session, alas that would be lying...

I really don't know how it got clogged, but there were a LOT of dead ants in there. I think the guy that worked on it in my absence didn't do anything but keep it under a hummingbird feeder and the sugar attracted them...whatever, it's done.

Back on topic though, what color is the wire for the oil pressure sending unit? I wanna get this baby going ASAP! I gotta put in my interior though: got a whole new one from a '99 Tacoma at the junkyard (bucket seats, console, shifter, steering wheel, cruise control module) for $67. Just need this gauge to work now.

I am seeing in the haynes Yellow Black stripe

The EWD for the 92 4Runner says Yellow Blue strip

Look for a wire with the insulated spade connector.

I have been looking for the connector, but there is none. The only thing is the wire that goes to the starter; no other wire is on that line. If I find the black and yellow wire, I will try tapping into that, but I don't see why I should have to tap into a wire that is that far away (the closest wire to the ground for the starter is the knock sensor as it sits now).

I'll take a look sometime this weekend and see what I can find...

UPDATE: Found the wire. It was yellow with a blue stripe (green if you look at it where it blends with the yellow). Plugged it into a junkyard sensor and VIOLA! It worked! Now I have a functioning SR5 cluster!

This begs the next question, though: where's the first place I should drive when I put this thing on the road? ;-)
