A few questions... Timing & Cold Idle Kick Down.
I am trying to get my new Toyota in top shape for the winter. I have just installed a EngnBldr Street/RV Head w/261 cam. Cleaned/Rebuilt Carburetor thoroughly.
The only part that is not working on the carb is the "Outer Vent" but it shouldn't effect anything.
When I start the truck in the morning (45*F) I give it two pumps with the pedal and it fires up well and idles high. It will never come off this high idle unless I step on the accelerator. Shouldn't the idle gradually step down off the carburetor cam as the engine warms?
Timing: The motor runs good but when setting the timing I noticed it retards about 5* when I accelerate, it hangs there for a second then comes back to where it should be. Meaning when the timing light illuminates the notch on the pulley its clockwise from the timing marks on the oil pump housing. All moving parts of the distributor opperate smoothly.
Thanks for the help
