few new pictures on project crusty

Click the picture link below. I need to get some better pictures during daylight hours but i havnt had the time yet. The compound really cleaned up the dull paint. Today I installed 2 front shocks, cleaned the front disc brakes, took out the grill and repainted it,and sanded the tailgate. More pics probably on sunday.

Looks like a good start so far! This truck looks like it could be a fun project and will probably turn out very nice in the end! Keep up the good work and the efforts will show in the end! :beaver:

I've got to ask about how much of a build up you are planning for "Crusty?" I'm thinking rear locker, 4.88 gears, 33" MTRs, Dual t-case, and bobbed bed for starters. What do you have in mind?

Stage 1:
Get Crusty cleaned up
shocks
carb
tune up
Stage 2:
33in dueler MT's
AR black rock crawlers
Stage3:
custom fab tube bumpers
paint job?
Stage4:
summer 2003?
locker(front rear)
begin flat bed
Somewhere in there I will get 4.88s or 5.56s
:pat:

Right now I just wanna get it running good and have some fun with it. Near the end of the summer, I will get the 33s.
When i pulled it out of the woods it had 33s on it, but it doesnt look lifted to me. The 33s have some room to go too. I put some second hand 32 mud kings on there now to pass inspection that a friend gave me.

Thanks, The only reasons I got the RS bumper are: My need to hold the winch, Price, Custom fit for 1.5 inch body lift, Pickup at the shop rather than have it shipped. Its not at all fancy, someone back east could fab one up for you just like it and you can save shipping charges also.

Your gear options are 4.56, 4.88 or 5.29. Not 5.56. There is a ratio lower than 5.29. Not sure what it is, but I guess the pinion gear is weak and breaks frequently.

5.71, for show trucks only. It will snap if you look at it wrong.

LWB...SWEET!!! Gonna bob the frame when you go flat bed? The good thing about those trucks is that they have very large wheel wells and car run 33's with no lift for the most part. That is hands down my favorite body style ever. If you ever want to go larger than 33's you will need to swap in a rear axle from an IFS truck though, or else the rear tires will hit the frame when you articulate because the axle in the factory SFA trucks is 3" narrower.

Nah I think 33s are the perfect size.
