fault temp sensor, correct gauge?
I'm trying to diagnose my code 25, 26 that happen at the same time no matter what. Its a Lean condition and rich condition. Engine runs great, gas mileage isn't as good as it was but compaired to most of you around here is normal. In town I get about 16mpg, and on the freeway I get around 18mpg. It used to be around 18mpg in the city and around 21-22ish on the freeway.
My engine is running rich I know that, I have alot of black soot in my exhaust.
But my question is, if my temp sensor needed to be replaced wouldn't my gauge show otherwise? I mean if it was telling my ECU that it was cold, wouldn't my gauge show cold? Or is there 2 temp sensors on this? One for the ECU and 1 for the gauge?

found the answer, but not in the FSM...
Went down to the local dealership, hopped onto one of there computers and started pokin' around.... There are 2 sensors, ones for the gauge and the others for the EFI...
Hope this helps anyone else in the future.
I was thinking the temp sensor sent the temp to the ECU and the ECU sent it to the gauge.
I was told my code 25, 26. With my engine running running rich could possibly be a bad coolant temp sensor.
