I recently put a flatbed on my '94 Toyota Pickup and purchased a normal light box convertor to hookup the lights on the flatbed. It does not have LEDs just standard lights. Now whenever I hit the brakes the turn signals flash extra fast. Is there an easy/good way to fix this issue? I have been looking around for awhile now and can't find any good answers.

Check your wiring, you messed something up

Everything is wired correctly and no burnt bulbs. I've been reading and seen a couple different places that if you put resistors on the turn signals it fixes the issue.

What is a "normal" light box converter? Do the instructions tell you how to install it? Why do you need it?

I gotta love it you build a flat bed and go cheap on lights !!

Run all the lights out of one light fixture so you need to get a trailer converter box

That is why the Op needs a box.

I always Run separate lights even on the trailers I build.

I would venture a problem already with the Converter box unless you messed up your wiring

I didn't do the build. I bought it from someone else. I already have a trailer converter box.

Usually means a burned out bulb. There are electronic flashers that will always flash at the same rate, normally used for LED conversions since the old tech flashers depend on a specific current through the circuit, but the electronic work on all bulbs.

Either the converter is bad or it is wired wrong.
Check your grounds again. You would be surprised how one that loops fine will screw things up

I'll check the grounds. My father helped me wire it up and he is an electrical engineer, he mentioned adding resistors to the turn signals. Have you heard of that?

Seeing that you have 2 red lights on each side (just like the stock tail lights) by pass the converter and use the two inside lights as your brake lights and the outside lights as your turn signals.

Yes I have heard of using resisters but only when using LED's.

Edit- are those lights used? That could contribute to your issues

That's a good idea. What about the three smaller brake lights in the center?

Those 3 lights should just be marker lights

I am sure if you want you could wire them as brake lights depending on your state laws

State laws regarding lighting are trumped by FMVSS 108.
