Fan shroud replacement, ebay?

Hey guys, the fan shroud is completely missing from my truck (93 V6 e/c m/t a/c), was gone when I bought it. I called the local dealership and they quoted me two different parts; 1671165031 and 1671265010 as upper and lower shrouds for a cost of $135.

I jumped online and could not find any reference to those two parts numbers, but I found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/90-95-Toyota...9TsuzZ&vxp=mtr

Will it work? Any reason why it would list a different toyota part number but claim to fit my truck?

Thanks

RWD v. 4WD.

Check the part numbers here: http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/...671165020.html

Would it fit anyway? I have no idea (but I would be surprised). Let us know.

How could you not find references for the part numbers suggested from the dealership?

http://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/__...671165031.html

The shroud is a 2 piece unit. Consists of a Main shroud and a small lip attachment. Junkyard or ebay is where I would look. The one in the link you posted should work.

Red face

I have yet to own any Toyota`s that had one of these shroud things .

Just what are they supposed to really do but keep your face from hitting the fan.

Give you more parts to lose

^this. Mine hasn't had one in...well, ever, maybe. I just keep my squishy bits out of the fan/belt area when running. Junkyard, if you absolutely HAVE to have one.

I bought mine on Ebay and it worked fine. I added screws in it to hold the bottom piece more securely. The metal clips do not work that well.

Good Luck!

The radiator shroud seals off the area around the radiator core to maximize the efficiency of the cooling fan. Air being pulled in by the fan is concentrated at the radiator core to extract as much heat as possible.

How well they work on a 4runner is up for debate.

The way to tell if the shroud makes a difference is to tow a trailer. Uphill. Slowly. In 110°F. Can your radiator and fan keep up?

Does Toyota really design to that corner case? Well, if (and only if) you have both the Auto and 4wd, you get an extra temp. sensor that will switch off the A/C when that combination makes it TOO hot.

I've never had an issue without my shroud either. Never had it.
