fan on a 3.0

is the engine fan soposed to sound like a jet going down the highway. I drive a semi and is as noisy as a semi fan. its a 1990 3.0 and the cluch is nice and stiff . as I would expect it to be.

It should sound like a jet engine right after you start the engine and then quiet down 20-30 seconds latter. If it sounds like a jet engine after this then the clutch is worn out and needs replacing. You can get a new oem aisin unit from rock auto. The clutch should be failrly loose feeling after a 30 min drive. Is there oil all over the clutch?
The clutch contains a type of oil, if it leaks out it can cause problems.

is it hot out? or cold out? if hot, maybe its just doing its job... if its cold out and its still locked up after driving for a little bit, then its failed in the locked up way.

I never checked it when hot. but at 70 degrees out side+or- the fan turns really "stiff" like there is thick oil in it.no signs of leaking oil. just spins really stiff.

Lce makes a new fan for your truck, what they do is take the fan clutch off and replace it with a new fan and a spacer between the fan and engine, that should take care of the problem or you can just replace the fan clutch and be on your way, your choice

If I was you I would shop around a bit before I bought one from Rockauto, they may sound cheap but they're shipping is crazy expensive IMHO
