exhaust pipe broke before the cat :(
on my way home from work this morning my car started to sound like it was going to explode. I got home and looked underneath and my exhaust pipe was split before the cat. It looks like it was welded once before. I've had the rig less than 6 months. Can i take this some place to get welded again or do I need to replace parts. Anyone know where i can take this?
Thanks everyone

just the one pipe, at the one spot? like $30 at the most IMO
I had a buddy bugger-weld mine up for free, cause I replaced it later with a header anyway

that's not bad at all. I started looking up muffler shops but no one puts their hours on the websites. Any recommendations? Would midas be a good place to take this to?

not midas!
There are many muffler shops around Corona as well as up into Riverside off of Tyler, between Cypress and Arlington as well as one off of Van Buren and the 91, on the left near the Burger King before you get to Jackson when traveling west from Magnolia, if I remember correctly.

You could get a ticket for loud exhaust, but other than that, shouldn't have any problems running it that way. If you're really worried about it, you may be able to wrap the heck out of it with heavy aluminum foil and secure it with hose clamps, but I wouldn't expect that to last more than a few miles.

Thinking about it more, I seem to remember a muffler shop off McKinley and the 91, behind the Carl's JR. too. But don't quote me on it.
And I think there's one off the frontage road where sixth and maple cross the 91, like you're heading towards Giant RV.

wow, that's a crazy break there, bleeder. i just fixed mine recently and my break was just above the weld on the double inlet side. i was surprised to see that it was the tube itself and not the seam of the weld that was breaking. my crack made it about 3/4 the way around and had about a finger's thickness holding it together.
PhoRunner - someone try to steal your cat? from those pics, if you ask me, it looks like it was cut and not a break. the mating surfaces of those two halves looks way too straight and clean to be a break. if it were a break, i'd think it would look more jagged, like in Bleeder's pic.
