Why don't you just buy a new stock muffler for your truck? Toyota still makes 'em believe it or not.

If your short on cash, the big chains like Autozone and Parts America have cheap ones for like $20 or something.

I'm with Pirate. eBay a replacement, or build a replacement. Before it goes on, buy a can of Dupli-Color high-temp paint & paint it. Let it run an hour-couple of hours to make sure it bakes on & DO NOT scratch it/clear coat it before it's had a chance to bake on awhile.
You're good to go 4 a long time then.

I priced a cat back system from Advanced for a 22R. It was about $75 for everything minus the cat. The cat was another $65.

Attention to all newbies: You CANNOT use the 4 cylinder exhaust on a V6, it is too restrictive and will trip the "check engine" light!

thanks everyone for all the responses. i like the idea of new everything from the cat back, but i cant do it myself right now because im at school, and i dont think i have the funds right now to pay for it. if i were to go the ebay route, would everything have to be welded on, or is it bolt on? thanks for all the input.
oh yea, i wasnt going to go with a used system....well, not much anyway. sometimes you see people selling exhaust systems in the classifieds forum, just wondering if parts from other trucks would work. thanks again.

Prefferably welded, but nothing says you can't pay more for a bunch of U exhaust clamps to do it.
It'll cost you about as much to clamp it as weld it, or have it welded.

piratefins,
i dont know about your system, but the bolts and the parts that are bolted together between the cat and the muffler are very rusted. how did you deal with this? i would like to do this myself, especially if it only takes a couple hours, but i definitely dont have any power tools on hand, and those bolts are definitely not coming out the easy way. thanks a lot. dewey

Sorry I didn't get back to you. Glad to see you got it taken care of for a low price. I have a compressor and air tools + I soaked all of the bolts and nuts the night before with PB Blaster. So even if I get get them off normally (wrenching) I will just use my cut-off tool. When I put the new system on I put Anti-seize on all of the threads so they will be less of a pain to get off in the future.
