Exhaust Manifold

I am in the process of putting my engine back together after doing the head gasket and noticed that my head has the oval exhaust ports but my manifold has round ports? I didn't notice this when I re-built the engine 8,500 miles ago.

so my question is...Should i buy new exhaust maniufold with oval ports or will this manifold be okay? Hate to think that's why my headgasket blew after 8,500 miles but i doubt it! Probably something i did!!

If the exhaust manifold has the flanges above the exhaust ports for the PAIR manifold (even if they're blocked off), it's the proper manifold.
I wouldn't go to the round manifold- for flow reasons, you want the head and manifold ports as close to the same shape and size as possible.

Notice the 'exhaust' ports are (?) larger than the ports on the head but at least the PAIR ports are there too.

one has to remember that the PAIR manifold does not 'take' exhaust from the manifold but relies on the pulse passing over the port the suck air through the PAIR system and into the exhaust.
