Engine Noise, possibly Timing Chain Guide?
Eh so a week or so ago i started to notice a noise from the front of my engine of my truck.
It doesn't sound like valve tap.
It sort of increases with RPM.
It's not a rhythmic tap, like, it doesnt tap or click at the same rate as my engine fires.
I'll post up a video here in a few mins after i get one recorded and uploaded

Alright, i got around to recording a video.
Listen to it CAREFULLY.
It's like a sharp TAP. Almost sounds like sparks, but it's not.
You can here it coming down off the higher rev.

When i rev, you can hear it, too. It's not the valve-noise. Ignore that noise.

C'mon Peow, your an experienced yota techer, pop off that valve cover and check out the timing chain guides!
Can't say for sure what that sounds like, its sort of hard to tell but I can hear it coming off the high rev a bit

If nothing else, put a long screwdriver or stethoscope to it. I can't listen to the video right now, so can't comment on it. But, if it's coming from behind the cover, it's the chain. And, you know, I'd verify that right now. Sometimes people get lucky and don't snap the chain, and sometimes they get lucky if the chain snaps and don't bend any valves. You decide. Replacing the chain's cheaper than rebuilding the head.

Yeah i'm not going to drive it all this week.

This weekend i'm pulling the valve cover though, i have a feeling it's the chain tensioner, and if thats the case i'm going to park it for a while.

Yeah my dad taught me the screwdriver trick a few years ago, he has taught me well, it really comes in handy!
Just by using it i can tell i have worn timing chain guides, a couple valves that need adjusting, and a loud ass injector
Its hard to tell by the video peow, it always is, there is just to much background noise.
Main thing i can tell ya. Use the screwdriver to pinpoint the noise.
If its the timing chain, it should be less noticeable at high rpms, as the chain doesnt slap as much as it does at idle and low rpms.
And valves should be more consistant through the prm range.
