my engine light just came on yesterday it blinks twice then pauses then blinks 4 times. does anyone know what this code means. i changed my oil yesterday too. i usually run 5w-30 but my grandpa told me to put 10w-30 he said it wouldnt hurt it. i think it being a heavier weight it threw off the sensor and is making the engine light blink. any answers would be greatly appericated

Changing the oil shouldn't affect any of the sensors, particularly the one code 24 refers to- intake air temperature sensor, since it's in the air flow meter above the air filter.
However, nothing should cause the codes to blink on their own: that requires connecting two terminals in the diagnostic check connector next to the fuse panel under the hood. That it is blinking on its own suggests a short somewhere or possibly an ECU fault.

Oh, and 10w30 vs 5w30 oil is not a huge difference. 10w oil is slightly thicker when cold than 5w oil. But if it's getting cold outside 5w30 might be a better choice than 10w30.

does it matter that my truck is a 1988 with a v6 3.0L?

also i noticed that water is leaking in from above my ecu could this be the problem. the light cuts on when i start my truck and it stays on for a little while, then cuts off. then when i cut my engine off it starts again. it feels like my truck is struggling a little, i reckon it is the air intake
