engine light comes on and the motor acts up
every once in a while.. my check engine light will come on and the motor acts like its loosen power...when it goes off the motor goes back to normal....when it happens its when im either idiling or right after i hit the brakes too hard.....plz help

What year/model? You might need to run a diagnostics device to figure what is going on. Either take it in to the mechanic to get the reading ($60), or try to see if the local AutoZone will let you run their scanner for free (some do).

93 is ODB1 - you'll be better of with a paper clip counting the flashes save yourself the hassle of driving to AutoZone waiting in line then them telling you they can't help.

my 91 with a 22re use to do that exact same thing running down the road... the light would come on, the struck would spit and sputter and loose power to the point of slowing down, and it would only last about 5 seconds, then it was back to normal...
I have since replaced a LOT of things ranging from the TPS, O2 sencor, dissasymbled and cleaned the intake manifold, replaced every vaccum line, changed the fuel filter, and so on and so forth...
best bet would be to read up on pulled the codes with a jumper wire or paperclip and seeing if any codes are stores (mine had about 5 codes stored, so I just started replacing parts, lol)

alright thanks guys. ya, i was thinkin about it and all of a sudden i remembered...my grandpa is a mechanic.....so i called him up and he said that he had worked on one that did the same thing.. he basically said that it could be a couple of things so im goin to bring it over to him this weekend.
maybe one day i'll get this thing mechanically sound to where i can finally sas it....
